Stonewall Columbus Announces 2022 Executive Committee

The Stonewall Columbus organization announces new Executive Committee for 2022, electing the organization’s first cis-male Black President of the Board of Trustees.

[DECEMBER 20, 2021—Columbus, OH]—At the November meeting of the Stonewall Columbus Board of Trustees meeting the trustees elected its 2022 Executive Committee. Outgoing Board President Gerry Rodriguez said, “This is a truly phenomenal group of leaders that will surely help build upon the foundation for Stonewall’s continued evolution into the future; I look forward to being a partner in their leadership.” Rodriguez will remain on the Board through the end of 2022 completing a full five-year term.

2022

  • Ronald G. Murray (he.him.his), President
  • Missy Anderson (she.her.hers), Vice-President
  • Jonah Minot (he.him.his), Secretary
  • JZ Knox-Zhang (she.her.hers), Treasurer
  • Sterling Clemmons (she.they),  Community Engagement Liaison

2021

  • Gerry Rodriguez (he.him.his), President
  • Ronald G. Murray (he.him.his), Vice-President
  • Jeffrey Carter (he.him.his), Secretary
  • Jonah Minot (he.him.his), Treasurer
  • VACANT, Pride Liaison

Executive Committee members serve one year-terms, with renewal possibility for up to two terms. With the approval of the 2022 Executive Committee trustees elected to reconstitute the Pride Liaison role in an effort to better reflect the comprehensive engagement with the community the role entails. Sterling Clemmons will serve in the newly constituted role of Community Engagement Liaison. “While our Pride activities are the largest public community engagement moments for Stonewall, our work in the community has always been larger than only Pride. This change signals our desire to be more intentional in how we show up moving forward,” said Clemmons.

The organization’s June Pride month events have been the largest single fundraising activity to help support the organization’s programs and operations. Due to the COVID pandemic, the Stonewall organization has not held traditional march and festival activities since 2019. Incoming Board President, Ronald Murray, affirms the organization aims to hold Pride events in the summer of 2022. “While Columbus Pride is the largest fundraiser for our organization to support our programming for the community, we also realize that Pride activities are first and foremost a space for many to be their full selves—we haven’t had that physical gathering for two years…we are looking forward to Pride 2022 and creating more spaces for our LGBTQ+ community to come together.”

“I look forward to working with the new Executive Committee and other current and future Board members to drive this organization forward in service to the community for the most we can, the best we can” said Densil R. Porteous, who is completing their first year as the organizations first cis-male Black executive director.
