Since 2013, Stonewall Columbus has been a “Certified Application Organization” with the Healthcare Marketplace (or ObamaCare as we know it). Our Program Coordinator, Lori Gum has, in turn, also been certified as a “Certified Application Counselor”. We are well qualified and experienced to get you healthcare coverage on the Healthcare Marketplaces.
The ACA (The Affordable Care Act or Obamacare) has been instrumental in establishing many protections and provisions for out LGBTQ community. We no longer have to worry about pre-existing conditions and out-of-pocket limits that greatly affecting our transgender community, our community members living with HIV/AIDS and our lesbians who suffer disproportionately from breast cancer.
Furthermore, the ACA demands “LGBTQ cultural competency” from all individuals who are certified to assist consumers with enrollment in the Healthcare Marketplace for quality, affordable healthcare coverage. “Open Enrollment” for ACA Marketplaces will be from November 1st, 2015 – January 31st, 2016. You must enroll during this time to be eligible for Marketplace Coverage.
We will help you get covered. Starting in December, we will conduct in-person enrollment events and webinars, not only helping you get covered, but actually discussing the integral foundations of healthcare coverage itself; deductibles, co-pays, out-of-pocket limits, etc. We will help you understand what “Healthcare coverage” actually means.
