Stonewall Columbus is aware of the encampment that has popped up in the evenings along the side of our property. We recognize that this is a reflection of a much larger housing and services crisis impacting our city and region. As an LGBTQ+ community center, we understand that many in our community—including LGBTQ+ individuals and families—are disproportionately affected by housing insecurity.
We are actively assessing how to address the current situation with a balance of compassion, safety, and responsibility to all members of our neighborhood and community. Our team is engaging with city and community partners and service providers to ensure that our steps center the dignity of those unhoused while also considering the wellbeing of those who visit and work at our Center and our neighbors.
If neighbors are interested in supporting local services or helping redirect those in need to safe resources, we encourage connecting with:
- Community Shelter Board: www.csb.org
- Homeless Hotline (24/7): 614-274-7000
- Columbus Coalition for the Homeless: columbushomeless.org
- Equitas Health Housing Navigation: 614-340-6700
- Central Outreach Wellness Center: 614-360-2064
We remain committed to our mission and to creating a safe, affirming environment for all—and that includes how we respond to crises with care.
Thank you for being part of a thoughtful and compassionate neighborhood response.
