United Way of Central Ohio’s Pride Leadership program prepares members of the Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgendered (LGBT) community to serve in leadership roles on the boards of local nonprofit organizations. Pride Leadership provides lectures, hands-on workshops and other activities to help LGBT community members enhance their board leadership skills.
The eight-month training curriculum includes monthly sessions of two to four hours in length. In addition, each of the program participants applies his/her learning from the workshops toward a community service project. Program participants not only gain knowledge and skills, but they also build confidence through Pride Leadership’s preparation for effective service. With training focused on organizational planning, leading through conflict, fundraising, fiscal management, parliamentary procedures and more, Pride Leadership prepares LGBT professionals to take a seat at board room tables across central Ohio.
