Stonewall Columbus GIFT (Gender Identity Focus Team) Sponsors 2nd “Francie’s Closet” a Clothing Exchange Event for the T Community
Stonewall Columbus’s 8 month old program, Gender Identity Focus Team (GIFT), is organizing its second clothing exchange to provide both male and female clothing to transgender and intersex people. The event, called Francie’s Closet, will provide fashion tips, as well as a safe place to try on, receive, and even store clothing that fits people’s gender identities. Francie’s Closet will be Thursday, November 18th 7-9pm at the Stonewall Community Center located at 1160 N. High St. Anyone wishing to donate to this event is encouraged to contact Stonewall to make arrangements to drop off or pick up donated items. We are seeking consignment quality, “like new” clothing which will be given to trans/intersex individuals that could not otherwise afford new clothing. Snacks will be provided by GIFT. All trans community members are encouraged to come out and participate in “Francie’s Closet,” try on clothes and do some early Holiday shopping.
GIFT is also hosting an Open House with the Crystal Club as part of the Day of Remembrance list of activities and all are invited. Join us Monday, November 15th 6-8pm at the Stonewall Community Center at 1160 N. High St. for an informal open house and chance to hear what GIFT is doing in our community. For more information on the Day of Remembrance conference and activities, contact the OSU GLBT Student Services at 688-8449.
GLBT people and straight allies interested in participating in GIFT, donating for the clothing exchange or attending can contact Kellye Pinkleton, Stonewall Columbus Director of Programming at (614) 930-2261 or xcvaxyrgba@fgbarjnyypbyhzohf.bet.
