The President of the Board of Trustees, Kelly Jaeger, announced today the appointment of Karla Rothan to serve as Executive Director of Stonewall Columbus, Inc.
In announcing Ms Rothan’s appointment, President Jaeger said: “Stonewall Columbus and the LGBT community are fortunate to have someone of Karla Rothan’s experience to help ensure that the management and operation of the agency is as efficient and effective as possible.” Rothan has been leading the organization since July of 2006 as the Interim Center Director. “After restructuring the organization, the board made the decision to hire an Executive Director to lead and Rothan was our first choice,” said Jaeger. “I have treasured her wise counsel and ‘no-nonsense’ businesslike views on how to address the challenges facing Stonewall Columbus.” Jaeger added: “Rothan is the perfect individual to build upon the successes we have had in the past year and to bring the management of the agency to the next level of performance.”
A longtime volunteer for Stonewall Columbus, Rothan chaired the Pride Festival and March for several years in addition to helping with the organization’s annual fundraiser,
A Night OUT. Ms Rothan served as the marketing and communications person for the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging for seven years. A graduate of The Ohio State University, Rothan worked for several years at the Wexner Center for the Arts.
Non-profit organizations are not new to Rothan; she co founded a non-profit theatre company in 1992 and has worked in the non-profit realm for most of her career.
“I am honored to be able to serve my LGBT community as the leader of Stonewall Columbus,” said Rothan. “As the journey unfolds I am confident there will be many successes that our community can celebrate. One project that is vital to our city is the completion of the first LGBT Community Center. I hope that all of you will join Stonewall Columbus in making that dream a reality.”
Stonewall Columbus serves the Central Ohio LGBT community by providing a community center and offering programming and services that enhance the well-being and visibility of our diverse community through discovery, affirmation and celebration.
