I can’t recall when I started saying it, but it’s been a favorite of mine to share:
Clear consistent communication confronts conflict!
I know, you’re thinking that’s a pretty obvious statement—captain obvious!
However, the mental space from which I am coming is more about setting an expectation of engagement (I am all about setting and agreeing to expectations…but that’s another post for another time). This statement, however, is saying I commit to try my best to clearly and consistently communicate with you, the community, so as to ensure there is as minimal conflict (lack of understanding) that needs to be confronted because of a lack of consistent and/or clear communication; and as a partner in accountability I decidedly expect the same in return from this community’s members.
Now, more than ever, we are seeing how the power of the word rest with the owner of the story; as an organization, it is our responsibility to own our story; to the community’s trust ensure that we are as transparent and timely as possible with sharing that story; and to the community’s core that we find ways to make space for and uplift the stories of ALL of our community.
So…we’re giving this another go—after a long hiatus, we’re turning the Stonewall blog back on. Here we’ll work to share information, updates, and community stories about what’s happening around the Center and with our partnerships throughout the community. This will serve as the cornerstone of our communications; it’s our way to keep you all informed and invite the opportunity to highlight some of the amazing things happening throughout the community.
Welcome to The Cornerstone.
Thoughtfully,
Densil (he.him)
