Dec. 2, Thursday, from 10 am to 5:30 pm, or however long you can stay. Protest at the Statehouse, 3rd and Broad, against the Constitutional Amendment against any civil rights for unmarried couples in Ohio that goes into effect this day. Bring a sign to express your dismay and anger–but no stick on the sign. Park underneath the Statehouse for a few dollars. If this is full, head down Third a block to the Public Parking on the left. Silent protest. Concentrated effort from noon to 1 pm and from 4-5:00 pm. Bring hot beverages (no alcohol) and snacks. Dress warmly, raingear if needed. MEET on HIGH STREET on sidewalk. We will circle the Statehouse slowly, walking on the sidewalk, holding our signs up for all the traffic to see. Make a sturdy sign, not too heavy to carry. Protest songs, anyone? Media will be there.
We’re also doing a World AIDS Day service on Dec.1, at Tradewinds bar (Chestnut and Third)–it will start at 7:45 pm to 9:00 pm. People who go to the AIDS memorial event at Franklin Park Conservatory, can actually come here AFTER that event. It will be a religious service, with Christian elements and elements from other faiths as well.
