Judge Daniel T. Hogan today has ordered a partial temporary restraining order against the proponents of the Marriage Constitutional Amendment from filing any petitions pending further order of the Court, strongly suggesting that the petitioners replace their current summary language with the language of the proposed amendment.
The Court also ordered that a further hearing on the Plaintiffs’ request for preliminary injunction be held within the next 14 days.
Alan Melamed, spokesperson for Ohioans for Growth and Equality called the order a major victory. “The Judge has sent a clear message to the proponents of this ill-conceived proposed constitutional amendment that the current summary is in serious jeopardy of being found to be untrue and unfair.”
