Job Description:
Stonewall Columbus is seeking an experienced Marketing and Public Relations Manager for one of the leading LGBTQIA community centers in the country. The candidate will provide strategic leadership with regards to brand identification and relationship management. The candidate should possess strong corporate event planning and fundraising skills. The MPR manager will lead income generating projects with measurable goals. Projects include but are not limited to marketing the Center classes, Workshops, Forums, Lavender Listings, Pride and Membership.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary Duty
- Create and Manage the organizations brand in the marketplace.
- Research to identify clients, sector opportunities, partners and tools to enhance and promote the health, wealth, visibility and image of Stonewall Columbus.
- Create and manage all Stonewall Columbus Web presence including, but not limited to, social networking, Center on High Site, Visit Gay Columbus site, Lavender Listings and staff blog. Develop a cutting edge social marketing campaign to increase the number of users
- Develop marketing literature, ensuring valid, current and accurate content.
- Lead in the development of all print and media campaigns.
- Develop and Monitor the corporate communications plan and strategy ensuring uniformity with regards to message, including templates, tag lines, and logo usage.
- Maintain organization’s Website: Consistently update pictures, copy, announcements, resource lists and calendars.
- Create and distribute a weekly online newsletter and other communications as needed throughout the year.
- Plan marketing and public relations programs that promote local and regional events as they relate to the mission of Stonewall Columbus.
- Plan and implement marketing and public relations programs to increase the organization’s membership meeting specific goals quarterly that show growth and improve retention.
- Create a marketing strategy with a design team and/or committee and execute that strategy for all of the center’s products.
- Work directly with Executive Director and team to write and distribute press releases and produce media kits.
- Collaborate with Executive Director to manage relationships with key stakeholders.
- Collaborate and coordinate with Executive Director to invite media to events and assist the Director in obtaining appropriate contact with the media. Collaborate and coordinate with Executive Director to initiate media opportunities including on-air interviews and feature stories.
- Collaborate with staff to maintain accessible databases of contacts including media contacts, Lavender Listings advertisers, Pride Vendors/Sponsors/Volunteers, Stonewall constituents and Center contacts.
- Design, negotiate, and coordinate advertising in local media.
- Work with IT contractor to maintain equipment and software. Research and help develop an IT budget based on agency growth and needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additional Support Responsibilities
- Assists the Executive Director in developing marketing and public relations’ goals. Develops tactical plans and activities to such goals.
- Ensures effective data management and web analytics and reports data to the Executive Director and the board.
- Participates in community events to represent Stonewall Columbus and to develop relationships.
- Develops effective relationships with donors (both individual and foundation/corporate) philanthropic community, and partner organizations. Supports cultivation of relationships to achieve the full fundraising potential of the community.
- Creates events and opportunities for corporate partners and employee resource groups
- Plans and executes at least three income generating events per year including the pride brunch.
- Responsible for defining and enhancing the sponsor and major donor experience during Pride.

REQUIREMENTS:
Education: BA/BS Degree.
Experience: Event Planning and Coordination
Desirable: Marketing and Public Relations experience preferred. Some design experience requested.
