From July 17 through July 24, 2004 Operation Save America (OSA) will be active in Columbus, targeting clinics, physicians and churches as well as LGBT institutions and businesses. Past OSA activities have included picketing outside family planning clinics in Connecticut, being present at the sentencing of a healthcare provider in Sarasota, FL, and protesting marriage equality for the LGBT community in Charlotte, North Carolina.Gloria McCauley, Executive Director emphasizes the importance of reporting these incidents of hate to BRAVO. She said, Although this is an organized group, their ultimate mission is still hate. She went on to say that, When folks see or hear about these incidents it is important for BRAVO to document what is going on out in the community.
A group by the name of The Answer Is No has planned events to counter OSAs mission here in Columbus. Further information about activities can be found at www.theanswerisno.org.
BRAVO urges the LGBT community to be aware of these upcoming events, and to be informed about a group that has demonstrated a potential for violence.
As always, reports can be filed with BRAVO, both anonymously and confidentially by calling (614) 268-9622 or by emailing ercbegivbyrapr@rneguyvax.arg. Please contact Stonewall for more information at 614-299-7764 ext. 11 and check out www.theanswerisno.org for more information.
