The innovative singer-songwriter-guitarist BeJae Fleming will perform at 7 pm, followed by book presentations at 8 pm.

Karen Graves, Professor of Education at Denison University, presents her important new book titled, “And They Were Wonderful Teachers: Florida’s Purge of Gay and Lesbian Teachers”, that explores a pivotal moment in the history of education when Florida legislators sought to rid the schools of lesbian and gay teachers. The book was recently named a 2010 AESA Critics’ Choice winner.

Introducing Ms. Graves will be Jackie Blount from OSU, author of “Fit to Teach: Same-Sex Desire, Gender, and Schoolwork in the Twentieth Century”. This book was awarded Honorable Mention, 2006 Outstanding Book Award by the History of Education Society as well as a 2005 Critics’ Choice Award presented by the American Educational Studies Association.
