On this Trans Day of Visibility, we pause to celebrate the brilliance, strength, and beauty of transgender, nonbinary, and gender expansive people in our community and around the world. We honor the courage it takes to live authentically in a society that still too often denies trans people their humanity, safety, and rights.
Visibility is more than being seen—it’s being valued, respected, protected, and uplifted. And at Stonewall Columbus, we are committed to building a community center and world where that kind of visibility isn’t revolutionary, but expected. Where trans people are not only visible, but heard, resourced, and thriving.
Let’s be clear: trans people are not new. Trans joy is not new. Trans resistance is not new. What is new is the increased intensity of the attacks—political, cultural, and physical—against trans communities, especially Black and Brown trans people. These efforts to erase trans lives are deliberate and dangerous.
So today, visibility must also be action.
If you are trans: we see you, we celebrate you, and we are fighting with you.
If you are not trans: show up, speak up, and stand alongside our trans siblings—not just today, but every day.
At Stonewall Columbus, we commit to doing more than naming this day. We commit to the ongoing work of equity, solidarity, and justice for the trans community.
Together, let us build a world where trans people are safe to live, love, lead, and thrive.
