Stonewall Columbus Pride
Community Safety
Pride is a space for joy, visibility, and connection. Community safety at Stonewall Columbus Pride is rooted in preparation, collaboration, and care—for attendees, volunteers, performers, vendors, and staff.
Our approach to safety
Stonewall Columbus Pride uses a community-centered safety model. That means safety is not just enforcement—it’s prevention, visibility, communication, and support.
Planning for Pride involves coordination with city agencies, trained event security, medical professionals, and hundreds of volunteers, alongside clear protocols for communication and response.
Our goal is simple: for people to feel safe enough to be fully present.

Visibility matters

Look for volunteers in official Pride credentials or visit designated information areas.
What you can do
Stay aware
Know your surroundings, especially in crowded areas. If something feels off, trust your instincts.
Look out for one another
Pride is collective care. Check in on friends, chosen family, and neighbors—especially those who may be attending for the first time.
Know where help is
Identify the information tent, volunteer hub, and staffed areas when you arrive, so you know where to go if needed.
Reporting concerns
If you need immediate help
- Find the nearest Pride volunteer, staff member, or security professional
- Go to the nearest information or medical station
- In an emergency and no officials can be located, call 911
Non-emergency concerns
If you experience or witness harassment, unsafe behavior, or something that needs attention but is not urgent, report it to a volunteer or staff member.
Stonewall Columbus takes reports seriously and works to address concerns quickly and respectfully.
Accessibility & care
Accessibility support
Accessibility is part of safety. We work to provide accessible routes, designated spaces, and support for attendees with mobility, sensory, or other access needs.
Care over confrontation
When possible, Stonewall Columbus prioritizes de-escalation and care-focused responses that keep the community safe while minimizing harm.
A shared responsibility
Safety at Pride is a shared responsibility—between organizers, volunteers, partners, and every person who shows up.
Thank you for helping make Stonewall Columbus Pride a space where people can show up fully, safely, and with pride.
