Stonewall Columbus’ Positions & Community Commitments
Stonewall Columbus exists to increase visibility, inclusion, and connection for the LGBTQ+ community in Central Ohio. For more than 40 years, we have served as a trusted home for community—providing programs, convening people across difference, and responding to the evolving needs of LGBTQ+ individuals and families.
The positions below reflect our values, our lived experience alongside community, and the work we do every day. They are grounded not in abstraction, but in relationship, care, and accountability.
Policy for Issuing Statements on Behalf of Stonewall Columbus:
As issues that affect our LGBTQ+ community arise or come to the forefront of our community, the Stonewall Columbus organization considers how this issue may directly be tied to our mission and vision and how, or if, we will respond—always guided by our values. Stonewall Columbus is a Central Ohio-based organization with a mission of working to increase visibility, inclusion, and connection for the LGBTQ+ community to ensure a Central Ohio, an Ohio where all of us thrive. It is not organizational policy to comment on topics/issues that do not meet at the intersections of queer life, queer identity, and Central Ohio.
Questions we ask when determining engagement:
- Does it directly impact LGBTQ+/Queer community?
- Sphere of impact: world, U.S., Ohio, Central Ohio, Franklin County, or Columbus?
- How does it meet at the intersections of queer life, queer identity, and Central Ohio?
