We continue to monitor the status of COVID in and around the Central Ohio region and recently Governor DeWine announced that Franklin County has been put on the watch list in the Ohio Public Health Advisory System with the risk to move to “purple.” In Franklin County large gatherings are still restricted and as such we continue to affirm the decision to not hold an in public march and gathering for PRIDE 2021. To safely gather over 800,000 people in the recognition and celebration of PRIDE is a strategic and engaged process that takes well over a year in coordinated planning across community members, local government, safety and security forces, and numerous vendors and partners.
Please visit our PRIDE site for information on virtual and other COVID safe gatherings.
“As more of our residents get vaccinated, we all need to continue wearing masks properly, keeping a safe distance and avoid large gatherings. We know these measures work, we just need to stick to it. Dr. Bruce Vanderhoff, Chief Medical Officer with the Ohio Department of Health, said recently, “Ohio and the nation are enduring another wave of COVID-19…this time it is being driven by new variants of the original virus. The variants are more contagious and more deadly.” So we ask everyone to remain vigilant as more our residents have the opportunity to get their vaccine.”
