Among queer-POC folks, research shows that religious practices may be used as a way to cope and manage stress. Concurrently, ideologies and institutions invoke religiosity in harmful and discriminatory ways. This presentation will explore the complex faith experiences of BIPOC LGBTQ+ folks and how this relates to psychological well-being. In addition, José will examine ways in which we can create an empowering and liberatory space for communities that have been historically harmed by religious institutions to heal and find community.
