Quare Vibes: Claiming Our Realness Through Healing Our Wounds
February 24, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST
To create an inclusive and affirming space where Black LGBTQ individuals from the Columbus community can celebrate the history of their activism and heal from the wounds incurred throughout activism. Whether HIV activism or legal/civil recognition, the advocacy work we do comes with costs even when there are victories. Being able to acknowledge these costs and do the mental work to remove the effects of stigma takes a collective effort. Celebration comes in the form of art and comedy, and this event will feature both for your healing and for education.
Featured in this event will be poetry, a panel discussion on healing from intersectional trauma featuring Dr. Jesse Sanders and William Stinchcomb, a history lesson on Black LGBTQ activism in Ohio, poetry by Black LGBTQ artists, and stand-up comedy by HIV activist, Andy Feds.
