“Mama Bears” Film Screening and Panel Discussion

First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Columbus will host a screening of the documentary film Mama Bears on Sunday, August 24, at 2:30 p.m., followed by a panel discussion led by experienced subject-matter professionals. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Tickets can be obtained at https://givebutter.com/MamaBearsColumbus. A donation is not required to obtain tickets. A free-will offering will be collected to support two important causes: the continued distribution and promotion of the Mama Bears film and movement, and Columbus area programs serving LGBTQ+ youth.
The award-winning film “Mama Bears” presents first-person accounts of some of the struggles faced by LBGTQ+ youth and their families. The story follows conservative Christian moms who became fierce advocates for their LGBTQ+ kids. It affirms that all children, including LGBTQ+ youth, need love and acceptance from their parents and the other important adults in their lives. The film is meant to jumpstart respectful, deep-listening conversations between youth and parents, and among Christian and LGBTQ+ communities. Real change begins when we truly listen to each other. ”Mama Bears” is sparking the conversations we need about family, identity, and acceptance.
