DVAM: Virtual Panel Discussion on hMPXV and DV

As a part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), join the members of the National LGBTQ Institute on Intimate Partner Violence for a virtual panel discussion about how service providers can better respond to the human Monkeypox Virus (hMPXV) to support the safety and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ domestic violence survivors.

Since the first case of human Monkeypox (hMPXV) in United States was confirmed in May, the number of cases have quickly skyrocketed, with the LGBTQ+ community disproportionately impacted by the epidemic. Inadequate infrastructure to test combined with stigma, hate, and blame against the LGBTQ+ community has already had a deep impact on LGBTQ+ survivors of domestic violence. Join us for a panel discussion moderated by Joey Espinoza -Hernandez Director of the Policy & Community Building, Department of the Los Angeles LGBT Center with leading experts: Mary Case – Manager of the Legal Advocacy Project for Survivors at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, Dr. Kaityi Duffy – Chief Medical Officer of the Los Angeles LGBT Center, and Kate D’Adamo – Partner of Reframe Health and Justice Consulting. Join the National LGBTQ Institute on Intimate Partner Violence in a conversation to learn more about how DV survivors are uniquely impacted by this epidemic and what service providers can do to respond swiftly and effectively to hMPXV for DV survivors’ safety and wellbeing.
