Deb Steele grew up in Minnesota and moved to a small town in Central Ohio as a teen. She came to Columbus to live in a thriving Queer community while attending Columbus State Community College and the Ohio State University. In 2003, she earned a BA in Sociology and chose to deepen her roots in Ohio because she enjoys the political influence that the state can have on national politics.
She has been an Organizer for Social, Environmental, and Economic Justice issues working for such non-profits as America Votes, Greenpeace USA, Columbus Jobs with Justice, Universal Health Care Action Network, and Ohio Interfaith Power and Light. As an Elected Official, Deb is currently a Fiscal Officer for Clinton Township in Franklin County where she hopes to establish Citizen Participatory Budgeting Forums with the constituents she represents.
She is married to Daisy who is the jewelry buyer for Evolved Body Art. Together they dote on their pets. Deb thrives on collaboration and collective action that empowers progressive individuals and causes.
