K. Terry Smith has served as President of the Stonewall Columbus Board of Trustees since October 2023 and is a dedicated community leader committed to advancing LGBTQ+ causes and strengthening the creative vibrancy of Columbus.
K has co-chaired the Human Rights Campaign Columbus Dinner (2023) and Wonderball (2020) at the Columbus Museum of Art. They also serve on the Board of Trustees of The Legacy Fund of The Columbus Foundation and have contributed to the boards of the Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus, as well as committees for the Public Relations Society of America and Columbus Humane.
Professionally, K is a marketing, corporate, and innovation strategy leader, with experience spanning LGBTQ+ healthcare nonprofit Equitas Health, gene-therapy startup Forge Biologics, and community leadership organization Leadership Columbus.
K’s innovative spirit extends into design. They co-founded Olly Awake in collaboration with eco-couture designer Celeste Malvar-Stewart—an apparel brand that challenged traditional gender norms through gender-equal, ethically produced clothing made from sustainable materials in the United States.
K lives downtown in Columbus with a plant they are valiantly trying to keep alive and is an avid lover of art and design, film (especially sci-fi, drama, and art-house), and a well-made Manhattan.
