Stonewall Columbus Awarded PowerOn Community Tech Grant, Boosting LGBTQ+ Access to Vital Technology
Columbus, OH – Stonewall Columbus is pleased to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of the 2024 PowerOn Community Tech Grant, a program by LGBT Tech aimed at providing essential technology to LGBTQ+ organizations across the United States. Through this grant, Stonewall Columbus will receive tablets, which will help both staff and community members access important resources and services.
As one of 48 organizations chosen for this year’s grant, Stonewall Columbus is excited to join a national network of LGBTQ+ centers benefiting from this technology initiative. The tablets provided through the PowerOn Community Tech Grant will significantly enhance Stonewall Columbus’s ability to serve the Central Ohio LGBTQ+ community, ensuring staff can work more efficiently and that community members have access to crucial online services.
“Technology is key in today’s world, and this grant ensures that we can better serve our community and equip our staff with tools they need to meet the needs of those we support,” said Densil Porteous, Executive Director of Stonewall Columbus. “The PowerOn Community Tech Grant is a game changer, and we are thrilled to be part of this incredible initiative.”
The PowerOn program, now in its ninth year, addresses critical feedback from LGBTQ+ centers to ensure that they can access essential technology. In 2024, PowerOn will distribute over $155,000 in technology to 141 organizations across 40 states and territories, ensuring that LGBTQ+ individuals and their support networks can thrive.
