Roscoe Village transports you back to a time when the Ohio and Erie Canal was bustling with Canal boats. Visit the restored 1830’s Canal town and follow in the footsteps of living history, stroll through the gardens, tour the museums and exhibits and experience a horse-drawn canal boat ride on a section of the Ohio Erie Canal.
The bus will leave promptly at 9 AM.
We will arrive at Roscoe Village at 10:40 AM. A short film and a map of the village will be provided.
11 AM: Lunch at Steak and Stein (free of charge). All meals come with choice of iced tea or coffee and a cookie. There is an open bar available at your own expense. Please specify your menu choice in your registration. Click here to see the menu.
12-2:45 PM: Living History Tour
If you have wondered what life was like in a 19th century town nestled along the Ohio and Erie Canal, we invite you to travel back in time to see for yourself. As you visit costumed interpreters in our living history buildings, you will learn about some notable people whose lives and deeds of the past contributed to what Roscoe Village is today.
3 PM: Canal Boat Ride
Set aboard the Monticello III and you’ll feel like you are actually gliding right into Ohio history! Relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the canal as it once was. Watch the hoggee lead the huge team of draft horses as they pull the canal boat gently along its way. As you listen to old canal tales from the captain describing 1800’s life on the canal, you’ll feel like you actually have stepped back in time to the 1830’s!
This unique attraction in Ohio has been on many “top things to do in Ohio” lists. Tourists from all over the country have traveled to Coshocton to experience this little piece of history!
After ride concludes at 3:50 PM will be loading back onto the bus and returning to King Avenue Church. We will arrive back in Columbus at approximately 5:45 PM.
