Religious Trauma and Resiliency in LGBTQIA+ BIPOC Communities

August 12, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm EDT

$15.00

Among queer-POC folks, research shows that religious practices may be used as a way to cope and manage stress. Concurrently, ideologies and institutions invoke religiosity in harmful and discriminatory ways. This presentation will explore the complex faith experiences of BIPOC LGBTQ+ folks and how this relates to psychological well-being. In addition, José will examine ways in which we can create an empowering and liberatory space for communities that have been historically harmed by religious institutions to heal and find community.

José Rosario (he/him/his) is the Founder and CEO of The Phoenix Empowered and a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Clark University.

The webinar will be held via Zoom and the cost is $15!
