While we celebrate Pride today, we understand there’s still much work to be done to achieve greater inclusion and safety for LGBTQ+ people. In a similar vein, while today we celebrate the victory that is the recognition of Juneteenth as a federal holiday, our celebration should not overshadow the work still needed for true freedom for Black people. There is space for BOTH joyous celebration and mindful reflection – both are important and valid.
