For June\, we’re reading “Stonewall” by Ann Bausum.\nThis powerful historical account explores the events surrounding the Stonewall uprising and the cultural climate that made it necessary. Rather than treating history as something distant or inevitable\, Stonewall reminds us that change is often driven by ordinary people pushed to a breaking point – people who were scared\, angry\, hopeful\, exhausted\, and unwilling to disappear quietly. \nAs we move through Pride month together\, this month’s discussion invites us to reflect not only on LGBTQIA+ history itself\, but on the ways resistance\, community\, survival\, and visibility continue shaping queer life today. It’s a chance to connect with the roots of Pride while also considering what it means to carry that legacy forward now. \nAs always\, Lavender Library isn’t about having the “right” interpretation. It’s about thoughtful conversation\, shared reflection\, and making space for the different ways a story can land.
