DESCRIPTION:Let your creative side run wild as you explore music\, art\, drama\, and creative writing at M.A.D. Camp June 2-6\, 2025 from 5:30-9:00 pm! This fantastic experience is the first offering of its kind from King Avenue Players and King Avenue UMC. If you are a child currently in Grades K-8\, then you are eligible to sign up! The cost per child is $22.50 and it includes dinner each evening at 5:30 pm. There will also be a family dinner on Friday night before our final Showcase and Art Show to celebrate our campers and their talents. \nAs a M.A.D. Camper\, you get to choose two of the following four “tracks” (or areas of interest) for your creative sessions throughout the week:\n? Music – The music track\, taught by an experienced music educator\, will explore percussion instruments from around the world. Singing and movement will complement the instruments.\n? Art – The art track\, taught by a veteran visual art instructor\, will emphasize line and storytelling (Grades K-3) and shape and painting (Grades 4-8). Please dress for mess and FUN!\n? Drama – The drama track will have Grades K-3 reading a story and then acting it out. Grades 4-8 will work on memorizing and acting out short monologues.\n? Creative Writing – The creative writing track\, taught by seasoned instructors and professionals\, will provide you with structured opportunities to express your unique voice through the mediums of narrative poetry and prose.

Almost every LGBTQ+ organization in Columbus has been touched in some way by longtime Columbus resident and activist Steve Shellabarger. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, June 14\, 2025\n\n\nMarch Step Off @ 10:30 AM at Broad St. & High St.\n(the procession will travel north on High St. toward Goodale Park) \n\nJune 28\, 1969 marked the beginning of the Stonewall Uprising\, a series of events between police and LGBTQ+ protesters that stretched over six days. While the Stonewall Inn and Uprising became well known due to the media coverage and the subsequent annual Pride traditions\, it was simply the fulcrum upon which years of LGBTQ+ activism shifted. \nThe first Pride march in Columbus\, Ohio was held in June 1981. This event is a safe space for individuals of all identities and experience levels to come together and practice yoga in a welcoming environment. So grab your gear\, wear something comfy\, and get ready to stretch\, breathe\, and connect with your community! \n_____ \nSTUDENT CHECK IN – can start up to 15 minutes before class. Instructors provide physical waivers or iPad. Water provided (courtesy of Stonewall)\, but participants are welcome to bring their own if desired. \nMATS & PROPS – provided for participants (courtesy of Central Outreach & Stonewall)\, but participants are welcome to bring their own if desired. \nCLASS TIME – 1 HR yoga practice + approx. 30 MIN mindfulness discussion/community engagement/socializing \n_____ \nCLASS DESCRIPTION \nQueer Yoga is a mindfulness-based program offered to the LGBTQ+ community that promotes holistic health & wellness for Queer folx. \nSafe & supportive allies of Queer Yoga participants\, are also welcome to attend in solidarity with their family and/or friends. \nEach class offering is beginner-friendly. Instructors make the class accessible for 1st-timers\, and offer alternative poses for more advanced practitioners. \nThe program features a variety of styles and approaches\, but mainly integrates Restorative Yoga\, Hatha Yoga\, and/or Vinyasa Yoga coupled with meditation & breathwork. \nQueer Yoga upholds a platform of diversity & inclusion within the yoga teacher rotation\, to honor the fact that representation matters for students. My name is Gabby and I’m beyond thrilled to join Stonewall Columbus as the Adventure Pride Facilitator. I am a Columbus native and lived in Boston for 10 years before returning to my home state to live my exuberant queer life here in the Midwest. I currently live in the Short North with my amazing daughter and my delightfully silly dog. \nI’m an engineer by day but love to get outside and experience the wholeness of the wild\, natural world. I love rock climbing\, mud races\, kayaking\, gardening\, painting\, and improv. My most recent adventure was a 130-mile solo kayaking trip that left from Columbus and followed the Scioto River until it merged into Ohio River. It was as fun as it was challenging\, and the time in nature empowered me to connect to my inner strength and beauty. \nI hope to use my role at Stonewall to do some of my favorite things: connecting with people\, honoring my body through movement\, and being out in nature. I’m so excited to meet you all as we go on outdoor adventures and explore some of the amazing space central Ohio has to offer.
